Bomb scare to prevent anti-government protests .

The Defence Ministry today announced that nine hand grenades had been found near the court complex in Aluthkade when the opposition has made arrangements to hold a protest outside the court complex tomorrow to mark two years since Sarath Fonseka was imprisoned.

The Defence Secretary has ordered the Attorney General’s Department to make the necessary arrangements to get a court order preventing tomorrow’s protest based on the finding of hand grenades from the court complex.

The security forces have started to uncover bombs, suicide kits and other explosives from various parts of the island soon after the opposition political parties have decided to commence an island wide anti-government protest campaign.

A JVP parliamentarian told us that these incidents are manipulated by the government with the clear intention of sabotaging the protest campaigns.
